Mumbai: More than a month after it discontinued the online admissions for the Right to Education (RTE) Act quota seats, the BMC has started it again.
The civic body has informed schools that they would have to admit students who were allotted a seat in the first round of the online process over the next 10 to 15 days.
“The high court has asked us to conduct the admission process as per the old rules. Hence, we have enabled the admissions tab on the portal and instructed all schools to complete the process,” said a civic official.
Only 1,393 students of the 2,596 who were allotted a seat had completed admission before the BMC put the process on hold in the second week of May.
A government resolution dated April 30 had cancelled all pre-primary admissions. This was done after schools had refused to admit students at two levels—pre-primary and class I. The matter is currently being heard by the HC.
