Pune: The online admission process for 25% reserved seats under the Right to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act will begin from Friday, February 27 in eight cities across the state, and also satellite towns of Mumbai.
Last year, the admission process had gone online in Pune, Pimpri Chinchwad and south Mumbai, but this year it will also be implemented in other cities including Nashik, Aurangabad, Kolhapur, Nagpur, Amravati, Latur and in Mumbai’s metropolitan region comprising the satellite towns of Thane, Kalyan Dombivali, Bhiwandi-Nizampur, Ulhasnagar, Mira-Bhayander, Navi Mumbai.
The online admissions will be conducted between February 27 and March 11.
The admission process will remain offline in the remaining parts of the state, where parents will have to manually fill the forms and submit them to the education board.
The schools eligible for giving admissions under the act have been asked to fill their details on the RTE website. On Friday, forms will be made available online for parents to fill the details of their ward, Mahavir Mane, state director of primary education said.
The Maharashtra Knowledge Corporation Limited (MKCL) has been commissioned the job of preparing the software for conducting the admission procedure. “Last year, Pune district had close to 9,500 seats reserved under RTE scheme. Once the schools fill up the information, we will be able to find out the availability of seats this year in Pune and across the state,” said Mane.
The regional directorate of education in each district will be appointed as the admission committee head by the education department. Mane said, “The admission committee officials will verify the forms filled and the documents submitted by parents once the deadline for submission of forms is over. A day for drawing lottery of the admissions will then be announced within eight days of verification.” Parents can also fill up forms at home, if they have the facility and then submit the printout of the form and required documents to the nearest help centre.
Parents can fill and submit the forms on www.rtemaharashtra.in.
