Guwahati: City schools are under the state government’s lens. A team comprising police, administration, transport and education department officials will go on inspection of city schools from Wednesday to ascertain if they are following the norms of the Right to Education (RTE) Act. The teams will also inquire whether schoolbuses abide by road-safety guidelines.
The deadline issued by the civil administration for city schools to comply with RTE norms and abide by conditions of the safety and security of schoolbuses ended on Tuesday and, now, the authorities have decided to check the ground reality.
“Joint teams comprising officials of the departments concerned will visit city schools from Wednesday and submit a report, based on which, action will be taken against errant schools,” Kamrup (Metro) deputy commissioner M Angamuthu told TOI on Tuesday.
